This is an interesting WWI period German trench knife.

This is one of hybrid types that were inspired by hunting knives but were made with double edged blade typical to German trench knives.

This one is of WWI emergency low cost production with handle made of wood simulating stag handles of traditional hunting knives.

The scabbard is also inspired by Nicker knives with addition of the belt loop, that was not necessary for the hunting knives but was quite handy for the trench ones.

These scabbards are rare because often these were replaced with all-metal ones from usual trench knives.

The knife is in fine condition, the blade has some light rust damage and the crossguard is loose.

Otherwise the knife is fine, the handle has no damage.

The scabbard has some small cracks and cuts on the leather parts and the lower fitting is re-glued.

In any case this is a 100% original and complete example of a quite rare German WWI trench knife.
